Collecting Custom COVID-19 Specimens
iSpecimen can help source samples from patients presently infected with COVID-19 (and its variants), are in recovery, are post recovery, or have never been infected with COVID-19. Sample types include:
- Whole Blood, up to 50 mL

Our Clinical Remnant COVID-19 Swab, Serum, & Plasma Offerings:
Through the iSpecimen Marketplace, you can search and request remnant swabs, serum, and plasma samples from patients who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and patients who have tested negative for COVID-19.
Specimens can be collected at different points of infection, at the same time as another specimen required for the study, and from a certain year (pre- or post-2020).
Remnant Swabs
- Nasopharyngeal Swabs tested positive for COVID-19
- Nasopharyngeal Swabs tested negative for COVID-19
Remnant Serum & Plasma (Post-2020)
- Serum and EDTA Plasma tested positive or negative for COVID-19 (serum / plasma not tested for antibodies but taken at same time as tested swab, PCR testing on swabs)
- Serum and EDTA Plasma collected at various time points after positive COVID-19 swab test (limited quantities)
Remnant Serum & Plasma (Pre-2020)
- Serum and EDTA Plasma controls collected in the US pre-2020 (presumed negative for COVID-19)
- Serum collected pre-2020, used as negative COVID-19 controls
